A celebratory lunch was held in Dunedin recently to present commemorative pins to 20 Fellows of the Institute. The honour recognises service to the profession, and only 15 are inducted nationally each year.
President Graham Crombie presented each Fellow with a commemorative pin to mark one hundred years of the Institute. It was particularly poignant as he is a well known and highly respected Otago Fellow.
“I was impressed by the tradition of this event and the calibre of the long serving Fellows who attended,” says Otago Branch Coordinator Christabel O’Leary. “Speaking to those attendees made me realise that these were not just ordinary people but very distinguished individuals who are held in the highest esteem by their peers.”
The event was held at the Southern Cross Hotel. Also recognised for their contribution to the profession were: Robert Booth, Roy Broad, John Chronican, Barry Clarke, Paul Pedofski, Stephen Higgs, Steve Brocklebank, Patrick Heslin, Ross Smith, Bill Thomson, Brian Dodds, John Gilks, Leslie Green, Shirley Jones, Huia Ockwell, Barry Mackenzie, Boris Popoff, Philip George, George Morton and Percy Wellington, who is the longest serving fellow in the group with 70 years as a member of the Institute.
