A number of distinguished Fellows of the Institute were awarded commemorative pins in April at a special ceremony held at the Hawke's Bay racecourse. Among the 20 Fellows who received the pins were William Bennett, former Waipawa Mayor, Jim Heron on the Wairoa District Council, John Drury, founding managing secretary of the farmers cooperative now called "Farmlands", and Graham Edwards, chairman of Napier Inner City Marketing and until last year on the Council of the Eastern Institute of Technology. Special pins commemorating the Institute's centennial year were presented in the ceremony which celebrated the valuable contributions each had made to local business and the accounting profession as a whole.
